PTFE Lined Hoses |
Used extensively in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical & Food industries, PTFE offers a versatile hose liner for a variety of applications. With a temperature range of -70 deg C to + 270 deg C depending on construction and operating conditions. There are two basic types of PTFE lined hose:
- Smoothbore PTFE
hose is suitable for general purpose industrial use, including high and low pressure steam, chemicals, paints, inks, adhesives, fuels, oils, detergents, refrigerants, gas and foodstuffs whenever the excellent chemical and temperature resistance of PTFE offers significant advantages.
- Convoluted bore PTFE hose gives even greater flexibility than smooth bore, and is available in a variety of tube types, dependant on application. A wide choice of covers/over braids are also available, including stainless steel or monel, non metallic braids such as glassfibre, Kevlar, Polyester & Nomex; as well as coloured rubber coverings in silicone & EPDM. End couplings are available tafted or un-tafted, dependant also on the application and hose type. Most coupling types associated with the industries mentioned above are available, including cam, BSP, RJT, Tri-clover, flange & SMS.
Standard end fittings are BSP cone or flat seated female unions and BSP taper fixed males, available in zinc plated mild steel or AISI 316 stainless steel. Other types of end
fitting available include 90° elbow and 45° elbow fittings. NPT threaded fittings, JIC fittings, flanges, DIN 11851 fittings, SMS fittings, Quick Release couplings, Standpipes, Weld-on fittings and many others.

Stainless Steel Corrugated Hose Core is constructed from
either Grade 321 or 316 Stainless Steel and formed into annular
corrugations. Depending on operating pressure, the hose is then either single or double
overbraided with Grade 304 (or 316) Stainless Steel wire.
For less demanding applications, metallic hoses are also available in mild steel constructions.
All our metallic hose assemblies are available with a wide range of end connections to customer requirements. All hoses are welded using a two stage process. Firstly, the hose, braid and ferrule are welded together; then the end fitting is secured with a second weld.
Typical metallic hose applications include chemical industries, iron and steel manufacture, oil and gas industry, paper and board industry, process and liquids handling industry.
Since End Couplings are welded onto metal hose assemblies, the choice of coupling types is almost limitless. In plated steel or stainless steel, common choices include BSP, JIC, RJT, SMS, Cam and Flanges. Adapters can of course be used to facilitate the use of alloy, plastic or other non-weldable couplings.
